Kirundi (also Rundi and Rundisch ) is a common in Burundi ( and spoken by about 95 % of the population as a first language ) Bantu language and next to the French the official language of the country.

End of the 19th century, during the German colonial rule in Rwanda -Urundi, was a Latin -based Verschriftung.

The language is almost identical with the spoken mainly in neighboring Rwanda Kinyarwanda.
