Kisa, Sweden

Kisa is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of Östergötland County and the historic province of Östergötland. Kisa is the main town of the municipality of Kinda. Here the rivers flow together and Kisaan Lillån and flow into the lake Kisasjön, at the southern shore Kisa is.

History

The place name Kisa presumably refers to the round mountain Borgarberg near the church of Kisa. Kisa is at a historically important transport connection, the Kalmarweg. The royal army of Gustav Vasa suffered on September 15, 1542 a defeat against insurgents in Kisa.

Kisa - homestead - a small open-air museum

Directly in Kisa is Café Columbia, which also includes a Emigration Museum. How many Swedish cities has Kisa also a homestead, a kind of small open-air museum, this area is not far from the center of the village away above the Kisa Lake. In 1929 the first building of the homestead was built, a country house from the mid-17th century from the environs of Kisa ( Västra Eneby socks ). This is still the main building of the Hembygdsgårds, which now consists of about 15 houses. This includes a small Hofensemble with cowshed, a merchant shop and a shoemaker 's workshop to a homestead. In one of the buildings, a school museum with a device from the period around 1850.
