Kiso, Nagano (town)

Kiso- machi ( Japanese:木 曽 町) is a city in Kiso -gun in Nagano Prefecture on the main Japanese island of Honshu.

Geography

Kiso -machi is located in Kisotal. The Kiso flows through the city center. The eastern edge of the urban area is dominated by the mountain ranges of the Kiso Mountains. At 476.06 km ² 12,952 people ( as of March 1, 2010). Overall, borders nine other municipalities in Kiso- machi, of which seven are located in Nagano Prefecture and two in Gifu Prefecture. These are the independent cities ( shi) Ina, Gero, Matsumoto, Shiojiri and Takayama and the district town Agematsu and the villages ( mura ) Kiso -mura, Miyada and Otaki.

History

Kiso -machi was formed on 1 November 2005 by the merger of the formerly independent municipalities Hiyoshi, Qaeda, Kiso- Fukushima and Mitake. Kiso- Fukushima forms the central district of Kiso- machi.

Traffic

By Kiso -machi performs operated by JR Central West range of Chūō Main Line, the three stations Harano, Kiso- Fukushima and Miyanokoshi be due to the in Kiso- machi. There is also an Express bus to Shinjuku, the day moves back and forth twice.

By Kiso -machi also lead two national roads. These are the National Road 19 from Nagano to Nagoya and the National Road 361 from Takayama by Ina. The last part of the latter, which was completed in February 2006, runs directly through the Kiso Mountains, thus shortening the route of Kiso- Fukushima to Ina to approximately 20 km in length.

Educational institutions

In sponsorship of the Kiso -machi there are five primary schools and four secondary schools. Furthermore, there is a high school in Kiso- machi, which is supported by the prefecture. There are also two vocational schools ( Senshu Gakko ), one for nursing and one for forestry, in Kiso- machi.

Attractions and Tourism

In Kiso- Fukushima are of volcanic Ontake, which is considered the westernmost 3.00er Japan. In addition, there are several ski resorts. In the district of Fukushima, there is an old town preserved.
