Kista

Kista ( Swedish: / ' ɕi ː sta / ) is a neighborhood in the northwest of Stockholm, which belongs to the municipality Rinkeby - Kista.

Kista is considered the largest IT mall in Sweden, perhaps even in Europe. The nickname Wireless Valley and Science City has Kista made ​​through the establishment of important IT and mobile phone companies.

The Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm and Stockholm University are jointly represented by the IT University in Kista, in order to provide business-oriented training.

Kista is divided by the Tunnelbana line with the Kista station in a western and an eastern part. The industry is concentrated in the east, while the western district is primarily a residential area. The streets Kista are named after places and people from Denmark and Iceland.

Kista's skyline is dominated by the 33 -story Kista Science Tower with a triangular base. The tower was finished in 2003. Next door is the Kista Galleria, one of the largest and most modern department stores in the Stockholm area. The complex also includes 14 cinemas.

Business and industry

The structure of the industry in Kista began in the 70s with companies such as SRA ( Svenska Radio Aktiebolaget, now part of Ericsson ), RIFA (later Ericsson Microelectronics and now Infineon Technologies ) and IBM Svenska AB ( the Swedish branch of IBM). 67,000 employees work in Kista, of which 24,000 in the ICT sector.

Ericsson is headquartered in Kista since 2003.
