Kitsman Raion

Rajon Kizman (Ukrainian Кіцманський район / rayon Kizmanskyj; Russian Кицманский район / Kizmanski raion, Romanian Raionul Cozmeni ) is a raion ( administrative district) in the Chernivtsi Oblast, in western Ukraine. The center is the city of Rajons Kizman. The Rajon was built in 1940 after the occupation of Northern Bukovina to the Soviet Union as part of the Ukrainian SSR, more than 98 percent of the population in 2001 gave their nationality with Ukrainian on.

The Rajon bordered on the north and northeast by the Rajon Zastavna, on the southeast by the Oblasthauptstadt Czernowitz, on the south by Rajon Storoschynez, in the southwest on the Rajon Wyschnyzja and to the west by Rajon Snyatyn and the Rajon Horodenka in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.

The village Mamajiwzi emerged on 17 September 1991 following the merger of the villages Starosillja ( Старосілля; earlier Alt- Mamajestie ) and Nowosilka ( Новосілка; formerly New Mamajestie ). , The village Suchowerchiw was on 11 October 1991 after the spin-off from the city Kizman. On 22 May 2003 the village of Novy Kysseliw was spun off from Mamajiwzi and is independent ever since.
