Kitsman

Kizman (Ukrainian Кіцмань; Кицмань Russian, German Kotzman [n ], Romanian Cozmeni - Coţmani or Chiţmani, Polish Kicmań ) is a Rajonshauptstadt in the Ukrainian Chernivtsi Oblast. It lies north of the Pruths, about 20 km north-west of Chernivtsi.

The city was first mentioned in writing in 1413. It belonged to Austria-Hungary from 1774 to 1918 and was in Bukowina. 1798 got the Charter and was awarded the Empire seat of district administration and the a district court.

After the end of the First World War, the city came to Romania (in the circle Cernăuţi ). As part of the annexation of Northern Bukovina on June 28, 1940, she was part of the Soviet Union ( between 1941-1945 again to Romania) and is since 1991 a part of the Ukraine.
