Kjell Espmark

Kjell Espmark ( born February 19, 1930 in Strömsund, Sweden) is a Swedish poet, novelist and literary historian.

Life

Espmark studied literature at the University of Stockholm and began at this time with the first poems. In the 1980s, he wrote his first novel. From 1978 to 1995 he was Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Stockholm.

Espmark is also a member of the Nobel Committee, which he was president between 1988 and 2004 and since 1981 member of the Swedish Academy since 1988.

Works

Espmarks literary work includes thirteen volumes of poetry, ten novels and a collection of short stories. He also wrote monographs on Harry Martinson and Tomas Tranströmer and an autobiography. In German language have been published:
