Kjell Hovda

Kjell Hovda ( born October 27, 1945 in Veggli ) is a former Norwegian biathlete.

Kjell Hovda started as Active for Rødberggrunnen IF, Fiskum Skytterlag and Ingeniørvåpenets skole og øvingsavdeling. Kåre Hovda was his older brother. He had his first international use at the Biathlon World Championships 1969 in Zakopane, where he was the function SINGLE 19. It was not until 1973 that he could compete at a World Cup again. In Lake Placid, he reached the second place behind the all-powerful at the time the Soviet Union on the side of Tor Svendsberget, Estonians Gjelten and Ragnar Tveiten as the final runner in the relay. In individual he reached another digit placement in ninth. A year later he won in Minsk as a starting runner with his brother, Terje Hanssen and Tor Svendsberget the bronze medal in the relay race and was also 31 of the sprint and aft of the Single Page. Missed the 1975 season with Norwegian Hovda, Björn Sirijord, Sigleif Johansen and Tor Svendsberget in Antholz as fifth-placed another medal. Even in the single race Hovdas performances were not as good as usual: in the sprint he finished 38th in individual 27th place. Climax and conclusion of international career was the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1976. Hovda was the 18th of Single Page and missed on the side of Terje Hanssen, Svein Engen and gate Svendsberget as a starter for the season with a fifth Olympic medal by two ranks.

National Hovda was very successful. 1970, 1971 and 1975, he won the singles title in 1973 and 1977 he won bronze. In the sprint, he won only once in the initial discharge at the Norwegian Championships in 1974, with the runner-up title behind Ivar Nordkild a medal. With the Season Numedals Hovda won in 1967, 1970, 1971, 1973, 1974, 1975 and 1976 and the title in 1968, 1972 and 1977 runner-up. His partners in the relay included in changeable compilation alongside his brother also Ragnar Tveiten, Odd Lunde, Anders Berg Besse, Sigleif Kjell Johansen and Flesaker. With ten titles and 16 medals in total, it is one of the most successful participants in the Norwegian Championships.

After his playing career was Hovda 1976-1980 coach of the Norwegian national team and later commentator for the Norwegian Broadcasting Empire.
