Kjell-Olof Feldt

Kjell -Olof Feldt ( born August 18, 1931 in Holmsund ) is a Swedish Social Democratic politician. From 1982 to 1990 he was Minister of Finance of Sweden. Feldt played a central role in Swedish politics in the 1980s on the side of Olof Palme and Ingvar Carlsson. Under Feldt, there were significant changes in the Swedish social democratic economic policy. The economic policies Feldt is associated with the concept of the third path.

Biography

Kjell -Olof Feldt was born as a son of Alexander and Irma Felt Jonsson. He studied at the University of Uppsala. Later, he was office manager to the Treasury, 1965 Budget Chief and 1967 Secretary of State. Even here he was connected with palm tree and the former Finance Minister Gunnar Sträng. On October 9, 1970, he was Minister of Commerce in the footsteps of Gunnar Lange. In 1970 he married Baroness Birgitta von Otter.

Minister of Commerce

Feldt was palm 1970-1975 Minister of Commerce, 1975-1976 Deputy Minister of Finance in the first cabinet. Feldt led Sweden to the trade agreement of 10 November 1970, the European Community, which in compliance with the Swedish neutrality a closer relationship with the EC agreed.
