When the club was founded in 1976 by some basketball lovers, his successes were ( a member of the 1st League and participants in international competitions ) not in sight. Ten years played KK Dubrava in the minor leagues, with 3rd place until you could get the first major success in Split at the State Junior Championship in 1986. A year later, the club champion was even in the juniors. The seniors team succeeded in the 1988/1989 season promotion to the first Croatian league ( equivalent at the time of the second League of Yugoslavia ).

After the Civil War and the subsequent independence of a new league was established in Croatia. KK Dubrava was incorporated in the A2 league. The expansion of the League for the season 1993/1994 was allowed to ascend to the A1 league in which the club ( with the exception of the 2005/2006 season ) plays today.

From 1993 to 1996 the club wore the sponsors name Benson ( the main sponsor of the tobacco industry ). During this period, the KK Dubrava in the 1995/1996 season made the jump to the European stage. Between 1999 and 2002 the club wore the ( sponsor ) nickname DONA. The take-off of the main sponsor led by great difficulty to the descent 2005, the direct re-emergence followed in 2006.
