Klaas de Vries (composer)

Klaas de Vries ( born July 15, 1944 in Terneuzen ) is a Dutch composer.

Life

Klaas de Vries studied from 1965 to 1972 piano, music theory and composition at the Rotterdam Conservatory. He was then studied composition with Otto Ketting at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague and from 1974 by Milko Kelemen in Germany.

Since 1979 he is a lecturer in music analysis, orchestration and composition at the Conservatory of Rotterdam. In the 1980s he founded with Peter -Jan Wagemans the Foundation Unanswered Question committed to the performance of works by contemporary composers dedicated.

For his compositions, he was in 1984 and in 1998 awarded the Matthijs Vermeulen Prijs.
