Kladow [ kla ː do ː ] is the southernmost district of the Berlin district of Spandau. The name is, Kloda '(= trunk ) derived from the Slavic word.

Location

The district Kladow is limited by the state of Brandenburg in the north of the district of Gatow in the east and southeast of the Havel and the west and southwest. There lie the neighboring villages Potsdam Sacrow and Great Glienicke. With 14,000 inhabitants Kladow is one of the parts of the city who have received their rural character. Close to the center is the promenade, which is upstream of the uninhabited island Imchen.

History

In the area Kladows archaeological Slavic settlements from the 9th to the 12th century and early medieval metalwork ( Kladower Silver Fund) are detected. The inclusion of the Kladower church belonging Ackers in Old clado in 1590 suggests that once was an older settlement of this name elsewhere in the municipality. The local form of the vorfindlichen village square indicates that the end of the 12th century German settlers immigrating took a Slavic settlement.

Testifies documented was the place for the first time in 1267 as Clodow. In the Land Book of Charles IV ( 1375 ) Cladow is mentioned 48 hooves, eight parish hooves and three Schulz hooves. During the Reformation, the monastery lost his rights of patronage in 1558, and the village came to the Office Spandau ( until 1872 ).
