Kladruber

The Kladrubers is a breed of horse from the National Stud Kladruby nad Labem ( Kladrau, also Kladrub on the Elbe in Bohemia ), an imperial and royal stud farm establishment, comparable to that in Lipica and the Federal Piber. It was originally bred as a carriage horse, is nowadays increasingly used for as a riding horse.

Exterior

Breeding history

The Kladrubers are a breed of horse that was bred for ceremonial occasions. This was between court etiquette - the only mold were grown - and church ceremony - for the only black horses were bred - distinguished. According chosen were the ancestors of the Kladrubers. Only large, impressive horses with congenital posturing and proud carriage came for the breed in question. The breed was originally based on Spanish and Italian horses that made Maximilian II Import, 1552. The official founding of the stud Kladruby nad Labem was made on April 14, 1579 by Emperor Rudolf II of Habsburg, which Kladruby one of the oldest stud farms in Europe.

The molds date back to the Neapolitan stallion Imperatore, whereby the two progeny lines generals and Generalissimo emerged. Cents have their origin in two Italian stallions of the Marquis Sacramoso.
