Klais Orgelbau

The Johannes Klais Organ Builders GmbH & Co. KG, based in Bonn is a leading organ builders in Germany with an export share of about 40%.

History

The company was founded in 1882 by John Klais ( 1852-1925 ). It had its first seat in Broad Street in the northern city of Bonn, In 1894, a new residential and commercial buildings at the Cologne road on a design by Gerhard Franz Langenberg, which was occupied in the spring of 1896. Today, the company of his great-grandson Philipp Klais (born 1967 ) is passed.

In new buildings, the organ factory Klais policy is normally the type of universal organ that seeks to bring together into a new unity within a contemporary concept of sound and constructive elements stylistically different organ eras and landscapes and considers new developments would be useful. Accordingly, the company has a design in modern forms of aiming at prospectus, housing and gaming facility of its organs.

Worldwide attention was aroused in 1975 the restoration of the 1824 -built bamboo organ in the parish church of St Joseph in Las Piñas in the Philippines. The completely dilapidated instrument, which is the only one of its kind, was flown in individual parts to Bonn and renovated there consuming. The organ factory Klais also restored many historic organs.

The Klais organ in Beijing was inaugurated on 22 December 2007. The first parts have been shipped in May 2006 to China, where the organ was then built within four months. The intonation began in February 2007 and also lasted four months.
