Sound (also Kelang ) is one of the cities in the Malaysian state of Selangor, and the royal residence of the Sultan of Selangor. It is located 32 km west of Kuala Lumpur and east of Port Klang and is drained by the sound. 60.9 km ² live about 1 million inhabitants.

The city has three seats in parliament, all the Barisan Nasional representatives belong to.

History

Sound is one of the oldest settlements in Malaysia. Finds from the Bronze and Iron Age show that the area was already inhabited 2000 years ago. Written records date back to the time of Majapahit.

Between 1867 and 1874, the city and its surroundings venue for the sound of war, a dispute between two local princes. Between 1880 and 1889 it was the capital of Selangor, replaced by Kuala Lumpur, and later from 1974 to 1977, replaced by Shah Alam.

Its present form was marked since 1977.

Economy and infrastructure

Sound is the headquarters of the company Top Glove, one of the leading glove manufacturers.
