Klarenthal

Klarenthal is a local district of the Hessian capital Wiesbaden.

The name comes from the nearby former monastery Klarenthal from which some buildings are still standing.

The settlement in the style of a " moon " satellite city was built in the early 1960s on the slopes of the Taunus Mountains and overlooking the downtown Wiesbaden on the green meadow under the plan of Ernst May by the Nassau homestead. Mostly it consists of large multi-family houses and apartment buildings, which are surrounded with greenery. In addition there are also many townhouses. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 11, 1964, in February 1966 the first homes were purchased. Today the city has about 10,400 inhabitants.

In Klarenthal some pockets of deprivation are known ( 4,500 inhabitants) were in the past six years straight in Klarenthal North but started extensive social projects to mitigate social risks.
