Klatovec

Klatovec ( German Klatowetz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 22 km northeast of Hradec Jindřichův and belongs to Okres Jihlava.

Geography

Klatovec is located northwest of Javořická Highlands, the highest part of the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. The place is located at the western foot of the Javořice ( 837 m) on a hill between the valleys of the Hamerský creek and Studenský creek. North-east rise the Stříbrný vrch ( 759 m) and the Velky Skalni vrch (785 m).

Neighboring towns are Kaliště in the north, Svetla in the southeast, Horni poles in the south, and Domašín Perka in the southwest, Panské Dubenky in the west and Býkovec in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village dates from the year in 1386.

Catholic is the place gepfarrt after Panské Dubenky.

In the winter months the area around the Javořice is a popular terrain for cross-country skiers.
