Klaus and Eva Herlitz

Klaus Herlitz ( born September 27, 1947 in Berlin ) is a German entrepreneur.

Biography

Klaus Herlitz was born the son of Edith and Günter Herlitz in Berlin. Since 1972 married to Eva Herlitz ( born 1952 in Solingen ), with whom he has three sons.

1972-1997

After school, business administration degree, diploma and doctorate, he joined his father's business in 1972, the 1977 was converted into a public limited company. Until 1997 he was a member of the Board of Herlitz AG and was responsible for marketing and shopping, but mainly for finance and distribution outside the German-speaking countries.

1997-2001

2001 to date: Buddy Bear

Together with his wife Eva Herlitz 2001 he founded the Buddy Bär Berlin GmbH. On streets and squares of Berlin around 250 bear sculptures were exhibited.

A year later, the first time the idea of ​​the United Buddy Bears was implemented. These represent more than 140 member states of the United Nations. Each bear has been individually designed by an artist from these countries for his country. The artists came from all over the world to Berlin and painted in an open plan studio one sculpture. The first two exhibitions of United Buddy Bears found in 2002 and 2003 in Berlin next to the Brandenburg Gate, on the grounds on which, since 2008, the New American Embassy stands instead. Through donations and auctions of Buddy Bears more than two million euros for UNICEF and various local children's charities both at home and abroad have been met.
