Klaus Bittner

Klaus Bittner ( born October 23, 1938 in Görlitz ) is a retired German rower. He won Olympic gold in Rome in 1960.

Bittner started for the rowing club A.T.V. Ditmarsia Kiel. In 1959, the eighth in the rowing community Ratzeburg RC and Ditmarsia Kiel became German champion. The crew Klaus Bittner, Karl -Heinz Hopp, Hans Lenk, Manfred Rulffs, Frank Schepke, power Schepke, Walter Schroeder and Karl- Heinrich von GRODDECK with coxswain Willi Padge won shortly thereafter at the European Championships in 1959. The media response to this victory of Germany rowing eight was enormous, the boat crew was voted team of the Year.

In the final of the Olympic Games in Tokyo, the boat was subject to the Americans and won silver.

Klaus Bittner was after his career senior teacher in Bad Segeberg.
