Klaus Glahn

Klaus Glahn ( born March 23, 1942 in Hannover ) is a German judoka and since October 1981 winner of the 7th Dan of the German Judo Federation. From the German Dan - College Glahn was awarded on 23 February 2007, the 9th Dan.

After a short initial phase ( August 1958-September 1961 ) when Turnerbund sticks in Hanover hired Klaus Glahn, who now lives in Wolfsburg, in the early sixties when police sports club Hannover from 1961 to 1970 at. Although the club has always been oriented on the grassroots level, Glahn succeeded equal to the dip in the international Judo business. Later he started for VfL Wolfsburg and celebrated numerous national and international success. At the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 1964 and bronze in the 1972 Munich Silver and Fifth Klaus Glahn won the silver medal in the heavyweight division, in Tokyo in 1964, he won the bronze medal in the open class. Glahn was from 1965 to 1973 seven German heavyweight champion and 1966 to 1968 in addition three times champion of champions. There are also nine other titles in the Open Class. With the German team championships in judo (two with the police SV Hannover and six with VfL Wolfsburg), there are 18 German judo title. From 1970, he was until 1975 head of judo training center in Wolfsburg and was able to fight with him judoka trained numerous championship titles and Olympic placements. From 1988 to 1990 Klaus Glahn was the first Olympic base - director of the newly established National Training Center Hannover / Wolfsburg.

Klaus Glahn was 1982-1985 Vice President of Competitive Sports in DJB and from 1985 to 1988 President of the German Judo Federation and from 1985 to 1988 Vice - President of the European Judo Union ( EJU ) and got on 4 April 1992, the Medal de Or the EJU. Later Klaus Glahn led several judo courses and events for the DDK (Deutsches Dan - College ).

For his services to the sport in Lower Saxony, he was inducted into the Honor Gallery of Lower Saxony Sports of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History.

Professionally, he worked for Messrs. Sprengel Hanover, Volkswagen, pit / Tietze and partners in Bad Homburg and Romika in Trier as a sales manager and after the reunification of adidas as a sales representative in the new countries and helped to build the dealer network.

In the 2009 European elections Glahn was the top candidate of pensioners and retirees Party (RRP ).

In November 2013 he appeared on the show of the incredible heroes with Matthias Opdenhövel in the ARD show.
