Klaus-Peter Justus

Klaus -Peter Justus (born 1 July 1951, King 's Lake ) is a German track and field athlete and Olympian, who - starting for the GDR - in the 1970s was a successful 1500 - meter runner. His greatest achievement is the victory at the European Athletics Championships 1974 ( 3:40,1 min).

His first victory in an international highlight succeeded in 1970 with the 1st place in the 1500 -meter run at the Junior European Championships 1970 in Colombes near Paris.

In 1972, he retired at the Olympic Games from the semi-finals.

In 1973, he was third at the European Indoor Championships.

1970, 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1975 he was East German champion in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1976, he won at the East German Indoor Championships; in December 1970 in the GDR Championships 1971 Cross Country (short distance ).

Klaus -Peter Justus started for the SC Motor Jena. In its competition time, he was 1.73 m tall and weighed 61 kg. In 1974 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.

Justus is now working as a physical education teacher at a high school in Jena, and state coach of the Triathlon Association of Thuringia.

His son Steffen Justus is a successful triathlete and runner.
