Klaus Riekemann

Klaus Riekemann ( born May 19, 1940 in Dorsten ) is a former rower from the Federal Republic of Germany, the 1960 Olympic champion in the four with coxswain.

The rowers from RC Germania Dusseldorf won in 1958 and 1959 at the European Championships together with Hans -Joachim Berendes and Hans -Dieter Maier in two with coxswain. In 1959, the Department also German champion.

For the intra- German qualification for the 1960 Olympic Games, he got into the quad. In the occupation Gerd Cintl, Horst Effertz, Riekemann, Jürgen Litz and helmsman Michael Obst, the team from Dusseldorf prevailed and drove to the games.

In the regatta on the Lake Albano, the boat reached the fastest time in both the forward and in the intermediate run. In the final, the team was able to prevail against the French boat and won gold.

1961 Riekemann was again German champion coxless four.
