Klaus Wagner

Klaus Wagner ( * March 31, 1910; † 6 February 2000) was a German mathematician. He is considered a pioneer of the German graph theory.

Life

Klaus Wagner in 1934 with Karl Dörge at the University of Cologne with the work over two sets of topology: a Ph.D. Jordan Curve Theorem and four-color problem. In 1949 he habilitated. In 1956 he received a professorship at the University of Cologne, 1970, he moved to the University - Comprehensive University of Duisburg. In 1978 he became Professor Emeritus. According to him, the Wagner conjecture was named, which was proved by Neil Robertson and Paul Seymour in 2004 and is also known as a set of Robertson - Seymour.

At the University of Cologne, he was in 1971 appointed honorary professor and in 1997 an honorary doctorate at the University of Duisburg.
