Klaus Zerta

Klaus Zerta ( born November 25, 1946 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a retired rower from the Federal Republic of Germany, the 1960 Olympic champion in pairs with coxswain.

He began in 1959 with the rowing and was founded in 1960 as helmsman second in the German Championship. He drove the two Knubel with Bernhard and Heinz Renneberg in the all-German Olympic qualification, this boat won and was nominated for the games in Rome.

At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960, the races were held on the Lake Albano. The German boat won the lead in 7:31,64 minutes. In the finals, the boat won in 7:29,14 with a brief second ahead of the boat from the Soviet Union. He was aged 13 years and 283 days, became the youngest German Olympic medalist ever. He was, however, significantly older than that unknown seven -year-old boy, the youngest in 1900 Paris Olympic champion of all time at the Olympic Games.

The students from the rowing club Gelsenkirchen technicians later. Until 1974, he remained connected to the rowing. Later he became instructor in tennis.
