The company Klauser, also Klauser shoes or shoe house Klauser called one of the largest owner-managed shoe stores in Germany and has its headquarters in Wuppertal. It employs around 1,900 staff in 130 branches and 2011 looks back on a 75 -year-old company's history.
History
The cornerstone of Klauser shoes was by Walter Kamp, who emigrated from Clare Klauser by purchasing the shoe shop Kamp on 9 May 1936 in the United States, as a " takeover of Jewish businesses by Aryan entrepreneurs" set. In March 1938, the takeover of the business of the Jew Siegfried Rosenberg, who had to give up due to a boycott. With the assumption of the existing since 1889 Shoe Palace in Wuppertal -Barmen in the Berlin street there was a further acquisition of the business of a Jew. The previous owners were Emil Rosendahl and Max Guggenheimer. Emil Rosendahl came to the Theresienstadt concentration camp.
1965 came Mary Prange ( as limited partner ) and Gerd Prange ( General Partner ) in the shoe business. The first new setting Prange 1966 was Hermann -Josef Richter, who managed the company until the end of 2011 as Managing Director. In April 1969, the headquarters is established in the Barmer waterway, this headquarters is operated on this site until today.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the company expanded by opening more stores in Wuppertal and in other cities in North Rhine - Westphalia. In 1986, the company consists of 28 branches.
In 1989, the takeover of the small chain Voswinkel, in the 1990s made more openings in Thuringia and Saxony. In 1994, a nearly complete construction of the central government and the central warehouse was built.
In early 2009 the 51 German branches of fallen into financial difficulties shoe store chain salamanders were taken. The stores will continue GmbH & Co. KG in the salamander Germany. Klauser at that time had its own 80 stores and made sales of approximately EUR 110 million with 1,200 employees. By taking over the number of employees rose to 1,800. This Klauser ranked by Deichmann, Silent and Goertz in Germany far forward within the owner-operated shoe stores in Germany. 2012, the logistics were brought together on a 14,000 square meter area in Wuppertal. From there, the branches are supplied in Germany.
