Klein Bonaire

Klein Bonaire is a small, flat and uninhabited coral island in the Caribbean, about 850 m off the west coast of Bonaire and separated from it by the Strait speech Kralendijk. The island is part of the "special municipality " Bonaire and thus to the Netherlands.

The coral island has a land area of about 6 square kilometers, is consistently flat and extends only a few meters above the sea level. The island, however, because of the intact underwater world in the directly adjacent coral reef and clear waters, a highly popular destination of many tourists who visit the main island of Bonaire. Every year up to 50,000 amateur divers and snorkelers, the main island offshore island.

Nature

In 1971, the Bonaire Marine Park was established to preserve with the aim of the flora and fauna of Bonaire and Klein Bonaire; Since 1997, the area is an official nature reserve.
