History

In 1388 Klein Meckelson first mentioned as Lütken Meckelstede documented. In 1500 it was reported by 14 residential buildings with about 70 inhabitants. From 1806-1814, the area was occupied by the French. When Napoleon built a road from Bremen to Hamburg, also small were used Meckelser citizens to hand and clamping services. During World War II the city was occupied about three weeks before the war by the British with about 100 tanks.

The place is national winner of the competition Our village is beautiful in 1971 and 2001.

The community is located about four kilometers next to the A 1, the nearest connection point Sittingbourne (47).

The 1 km south of the town center railway station lying at the Kuhmühlen Wilstedt - Zeven - Tostedt railway is operated no more passenger trains for decades. Nevertheless, may continue to be issued by any station in Germany from tickets to this station; they are considered in the weekdays buses run line 3606 Zeven - Tostedt of railways and transport companies Elbe- Weser. Education
