Klenčí pod Čerchovem

Klenčí pod Čerchovem, until 1946 Kleneč pod Čerchovem, ( German Klentsch ) is a patch in Okres Domažlice, western Bohemia, Czech Republic.

Geography

Klenčí lies at the foot of the Bohemian Forest about nine kilometers west of Domažlice and 54 km south-west of Pilsen on Čerchov (1042 m).

History

The town was first mentioned in 1325, the parish church in 1384. 1680 was the town of Emperor Leopold I granted a coat of arms. Here was the last Bohemian postal station in the Bavarian road.

From the 18th century belonged to Klentsch Allodialherrschaft Kauth and Chodenschloß in Klatt Auer circle, starting from 1850 then to the district Taus in the Pilsen district. Around 1855 there were in the now 1,300 inhabitants place a post office and a border customs office, and a stoneware factory.

Like the city Domažlice ( Taus ) was the place Klentsch since the late 19th century in the period of the Czech National Revival as " advanced position " of the Slavs in Central Europe, since he was almost on the border with the Kingdom of Bavaria. The place was because of the language barrier between German -speaking inhabitants were in the minority.

Klenčí, which belonged to the district forest Munich from 1940-1945, was the westernmost Czech -speaking settlement in Bohemia and in 1945 of Krasna ( Schönenbach b. Asch ) replaced. In contrast, the present-day districts Capartice ( Nepomuk ), Jindřichova Hora ( Heinrichsberg ) and Cerna Řeka ( Sophienthal ) were marked in German.

2006 lived in the community Klenčí 1302 inhabitants. Since 2006 Klenčí has the status of Městys.
