Kleve (region)

The county of Cleveland was a Prussian administrative district in the province of Jülich -Cleves -Berg. The administrative headquarters was in the present town of Kleve.

History

Due to the decisions on the Congress of Vienna ( 1815) extensive areas in the Rhineland had been awarded to the Kingdom of Prussia. With two issued patents in Vienna seizure of April 5, 1815 Posted on 15 or 19 April 1815 took over King Frederick William III. these areas. On April 30, 1815, the " Regulation due to improved establishment of provincial authorities " was adopted so that the Prussian state was to be divided into 10 provinces and a total of 25 administrative districts. After only six years, to January 1, 1822 the Government District Cleveland was dissolved and combined with the administrative district of Dusseldorf.
