Klewang

The Klewang (also Klewang Tjara or Klewang Lamang ) is a Philippine sword with a variety of versions, which is used by the people of the Moro, a Filipino people of Malay descent.

History

The Klewang was developed by the Malay tribes. With their departure, the Moro tribes took the sword to the Philippines. There has been a traditional part of the Moros. It is still in use.

Description

The Klewang has widened a straight, single-edged blade, extending from the tang (handle ) on the front and at the place ( tip) is oblique ( cut off). In other versions, the tip is rounded or long discontinued. The blade length is about 60 cm. The total length of about 80 cm. The handle is usually made of wood or horn. It comes in many forms. Some are decorated with carvings, others by tufts of hair. The tang (handle ) usually consists of one piece and has in common with the vaginal one fitting of metal. The sheaths are usually made of wood and are varied in their design. The individual parts of Klewangs have the following designations:
