Klingspor-Museum

The Klingspor Museum in Offenbach am Main is a museum of calligraphy and typography. It is located in the south wing of the Büsingpalais. 2011 there was a renovation and addition of the building according to the historical model, the temporary flat roof was replaced at the moment.

Collection

As part of its business activities at the company Gebrüder Klingspor Klingspor Karl had created a collection of contemporary and historical objects of graphic design. In the collection there are the estates of Werner Klemke, Rudolf Koch, Ernst Schneidler and Rudo Spemann. It also has the largest collection outside the Netherlands over the typographer Hendrik Nicolaas Werkman, which is one with his experimental magazine "The Next Call " from the years 1923-1926 the most influential avant-garde typography of the 20th century.

1953 founded the city of Offenbach, the Klingspor Museum. Focus has been the artistic book and the craft calligraphy. The original intent of the collector, to collect samples of graphic design as visual aids for the practical work will not be pursued.
