History

The birth of the village in the 16th century is closely connected with the opening of a paper mill ( Klippans bruk ) at a flow velocity of the Rönne in 1573 together. The original village was actually called Aby, but in setting up the railway line, the station was given the name of the factory, which in turn was named after the rapids and from then on the name of the entire settlement was used. From Klippan from the river towards Ängelholm was navigable.

In the 20th century there was also a leather factory, a dairy and a brickyard, which are now shut down. The paper mill went bankrupt in June 2006, but in December of the same year, production was resumed.
