Klondike (Solitaire)

Klondike is a special variant of solitaire. The game was developed in 1989 by Wes Cherry, while he was working for Microsoft. Cherry developed the game on your own to improve its programming style. Some managers of Microsoft saw the game and decided to deliver it with Windows 3.0. In particular, this variant is known by spreading with Microsoft Windows under the name of Solitaire, also solitaire, which is shipped with the operating system since 1990. Over the years, there also supplied versions were consistently processed. Where in Windows 3.0, for example, just a simple basic version was included, so it was with Windows 2000 already various game modes including the standard variant in a more comfortable version. For a Windows installation in standard mode the game is installed. For solitaire on Windows XP some cheats are known. So you can activate the winning animation, for example, by pressing Alt Shift 2.

The game is usually under the name Klondike, now also for graphical interfaces that run on other operating systems available. For example, it is installed when a KDE default.
