The catchment area of the lake has been for decades after the lake was " tilted " in the early 1980s biologically fully channeled. The St.Kanzian has since 1975 on a deep-water drainage, which removes oxygen-poor and nutrient-rich water. In this way, the depth of the oxygen-enriched layer of water is increased. While in the 1930s, the circulation flows reached a depth of 40 meters, the Company has scheduled a mixing only until 30 meters, so must be technically nachgeholfen.

Also, the 13 meter deep and slightly smaller Turnersee is known for its pleasant water temperatures. It is located about 2 kilometers away at Unternarrach and also belongs to the parish of St. Kanzian. Known among the fishermen is also the Kleinsee. This is located northwest of Lake Klopein.
