The Kloten Flyers are an ice hockey team from Kloten in Switzerland, which is originated from the EHC Kloten. The club plays in the NLA and is known for its good youth coaching.

History

The EHC Kloten was founded on December 3, 1934 by seven members, under the leadership of the later Honorary President Emil Hegner. In the first years only friendly matches were contested, with the home games were played on the frozen Nägelimoos -Weiher.

After some time the EHC Kloten took part in the championship and had to start like all new teams in the lowest league. 1941 rose Kloten to Serie B on, and the rise of just one year, only five years later in the series A. Again, then, in 1947, Kloten succeeded as Serie A group winners qualifying for the National League B, before 1962, the PhD in the National League A succeeded. Such a move was, however, at the green table, was but the NLA increased in that year, from eight to ten teams. Since then, the club has never descended and thus holds with 50 consecutive years the record.

Presence

Since his promotion to the top league club this class belongs to the NLA continuously and is the longest serving club in the Swiss NLA, in Fribourg- Gottéron ( advancement 1980) and the HC Lugano ( Rise 1982).

By winning the title in 1996 ( the fourth in a row), presented the EHC Kloten a new play-off record.

For the season 1998/99 the former Russian ice hockey player Vladimir Jursinow was committed as a coach for the team. In addition to a whole new way of playing, he also encouraged the young strong, which pays especially today. Under his direction, the Kloten Flyers had in the season 2003/ 04 even for the first time in the club's history in the playout. In October 2004, Vladimir Jursinow was eventually replaced as coach. However, he remained until the end of the season as a junior at the EHC Kloten conveyor. Successor of the former EHC Kloten Jursinow were defending Anders Eldebrink as a coach, as well as the Klotener veteran Felix Hollenstein as assistant coach. The new duo brought the Flyers back on track.

In the 2008 /09 season, the Kloten Flyers were in the playoff final, which they lost the narrowest of margins in 7 games against HC Davos. Before they had finished the qualification on the 3.Rang and also turned off the HC Geneve -Servette 4-0 wins and then the EV train with 4-0 victories in the playoff quarterfinals.

After the Flyers failed in the 2009/2010 season with a 0-4 against SC Bern in the semi-final, Frédéric Rothen, Michel bridegroom and Yves Müller were dismissed. At the start of the 2010 season featured the Kloten Flyers a new league record in the playoff era (since 1985) with eight victories to start, surpassing its previous record with seven wins in the season opener of 1992.

To ensure future success of the club maintains an elaborate youth department, which is one of the best in Switzerland. There is a partnership with the Hockey Club of Bülach, Dielsdorf- Niederhaslistrasse and the EHC Winterthur. A success of this promotion are the elite junior player, in the season 1959/60 conquered no less than 19 Swiss champion titles since the introduction of the elite league last in the season 2005/06.

In spring 2012, the elected president and majority shareholder of speedy Kloten Flyers Adrian Fetscherin already stepped back again. He accused the president Jürg Bircher, having concealed his true financial condition of the Kloten Flyers.
