Klungkung is the smallest administrative district ( kabupaten ) of Bali, Indonesia. It covers an area of 315 km ² and has 169 906 inhabitants ( 2004). Seat of government is the town of Klungkung, which is also called Semarapura.

The county is divided into four districts ( Kecamatan ): Banjarankan, Dawan, Klungkung and Nusa Penida. Klungkung is easily accessible from Denpasar on the developed coastal road to reach ( since 2007).

Semerapura was once the center of Bali's most important kingdom. On April 28, 1908, was the scene of Puputan. This is a fight ( the Balinese) against the colonial Dutch, in which the death was preferred to any abandonment. The county is famous for its Balinese paintings, which usually represent stories from epics like the Mahabharata or Ramayana. These images are taken from the classic-style frescos of Balinese palaces and are also in Puri Kerta Gosa (High Court Palace) located in downtown Semarapura.
