Knickerbocker Glory

Knickerbocker Glory is a dessert consisting of layers of fruit or berries and ice cream - usually vanilla and strawberry ice cream - is in a tall glass.

The food is crowned by a serving of whipped cream, which is often decorated with nut splitters and a cherry. About the layers of ice and fruit a fruit sauce is usually given. The Knickerbocker Glory is consumed with an extra long spoon. The dessert was popular in the 1930s in the UK. Judith Kerr describes it in her book, wait until peace comes, but which plays only in the 1940s, as a novelty from America.
