Knights of Pythias

Knights of Pythias Order is a secret society of February 19, 1864 in Washington, DC was founded by Justus H. Rathbone, an official of the War Department of the United States.

The Order has three levels:

  • Page
  • Esquière ( Squire )
  • Knight ( Ritter)

In 1865 the Order numbered 6504 lodges with about 464,000 members. In 2003, there were over 2000 lodges with more than 50,000 members worldwide.
