Knínice u Boskovic

Knínice u Boskovic ( German Knienitz, formerly Knihnitz ) is a market town in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers north of Boskovice and belongs to Okres Blansko.

Geography

Knínice u Boskovic is located at the northwestern foot of Drahany country where designated as Small Hanna northern part of the Bosko brázda on the river Semic. South-east rises the Mojetín (607 m), in the south of Příhon (552 m). To the east of the Nature Park Řehořkovo Kořenecko extends. To the west of the town runs the railway line between Chornice and Boskovice, the station Knínice u Boskovic lies at the southern end. One and a half kilometers to the west there are the mounds of unfinished Reichsautobahn Vienna -Breslau. South of Knínice located in Drahany country the medieval deserted village Stryelech.

Neighboring towns are Šebetov in the northeast, and Kapouňata Korenec in the east, Melkov, Benešov and Okrouhlá the southeast, Vážany in the south, Sudice, Bacov and Vísky in the Southwest, America and Pamětice in the west and Drvalovice and Vanovice in the northwest.

History

The first written records of the parish and the village Knínice can be found in two documents from the years 1097 and 1200, which have been found as a medieval forgery. The St. Margaret parish church was built on the ruins of an ancient Slavic fortified settlement. In the deed of gift of the Marquis Břetislavova across the yard and the village market Knínice and other surrounding villages from the beginning of the 13th century to the monastery Hradisko it also is a forgery. In 1250 Wenceslas I confirmed to the monastery possession. Was first referred to as a town Knínice 1279 in the border between the certificate and Knínicer Konicer goods. The Knínicer Church was the only parish church on the estates of the monastery Hradisko throughout the Middle Ages. Probably in the 13th century, a provost was established in Knínice. 1284 Knínice was granted the right to attach, probably was a slight palisades created. King Vladislav Jagiello pledged in 1499 to the vicarage Knínice with the town Knínice and Svitávka and the villages Svetla, Cetkovice, Šebetov, Uhřice, Korenec, Úsobrno and Okrouhlá to his advisor Ladislav of Boskowitz. This built in Knínice a basic rule and joined her other villages. Later, the government got back to the monastery Hradisch. During the 16th century Šebetov was extended to the new seat of power and the Order was there as a residence built a big castle. The oldest town seal dates from the year 1646. Over time, the town was referred to as Kněnice, Kníhnice and Knihnice. After the dissolution of the monastery during the Josephine reforms its goods fell in 1784 to the religious fund. 1825 bought Karl Graf Strachwitz the rule Šebetov. His son Moritz Graf Strachwitz inherited the property in 1837.

After the abolition of patrimonial Kníhnice / Knihnitz formed in 1850 a market town in the district team Boskovice. Between 1860 and 1865 included the freight Charles Octavius ​​to lip -and-white box. 1865 Count Strachwitz were again briefly owner of the Šebetover goods. In the course of foreclosure auctioned in the same year the Viennese manufacturer Johann May the possession, which he sold in 1877 to Moritz von Königswarter. Since 1923, the city leads the official name Knínice u Boskovic. With the beginning of 1961 Knínice u Boskovic was assigned to the Okres Blansko. Since June 22, 2007 Knínice u Boskovic again has the status of a Městys.

  • Church of Sts. Mark, the single-nave building was erected in the years 1805-1806. Under the church the Count Strachwitz erected in 1829 a family tomb.
