Knöringen

Knöringen is a municipality in the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Landau - country, which has its headquarters in the city of Landau in der Pfalz.

Geographical location

The community is a wine-growing village. Neighboring municipalities are Walsheim and Essingen.

History

Knöringen 775 is first mentioned as Cnoringen documented in the Lorsch Codex. The place name comes from the name of the founder Knoro. By 1468 half the village belonged to the lords of Enggaß.

Parish council

The local council in Knöringen consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: " In red two natural gereichte, loyal ' hands with golden sleeves, behind it in the middle of a black spear with a golden cross tip, both sides abutting ".

Knöringen leads this coat of arms since 1957. 's Hands the coat of arms come from the coat of arms of the local Knights of family Knöringen and the lance is reminiscent of the Patron Saint Michael the Abbey Klingenmünster who had rights in Knöringen.

Sports

In Knöringen there is the resident sports club SVK ( sports club Knöringen ). This has a football department and every Tuesday and Thursday evening is open sports home for guests and locals. Every Monday in July there is woman gymnastics.
