Inaugurated in November 2002 Kolbenschmidt Arena (until mid- 2007 Knorr Arena, 2007-2009 Lavatec Arena) is an ice hockey stadium in Heilbronn with a total capacity of 4,000 seats. These consist of 800 seats together in the main grandstand and 3,200 standing places on the opposite stand.

History

The Knorr Arena was built in 2002 by the city of Heilbronn after plans of the architect Jürgen Heilbronner Pils on the foundations of the old ice rink. The shape and the blue color scheme of the building are reminiscent of an ice cube. Around 8.2 million euro cost of the new building, in which only the foundations and the ice with their cooling pipes left over from the ice rink. The name pointed to one of the donors, the food manufacturer Knorr. Tenant of the hall are the Heilbronner Falken playing since the 2007 /08 season back in the second Hockey League. Except for sports competitions is open to the 1750 square meter ice rink for public skating. In 2007, the hall was renamed after the new main sponsor in Lavatec Arena. Since the bankruptcy of Lavatec GmbH in spring 2009 and the consequent loss of the main sponsor and namesake, the stadium was renamed in ice stadium Heilbronn.

In January 2012, the naming rights were sold to the ice rink for five years to automotive supplier KSPG. Since then stipulates that Kolbenschmidt Arena.
