Knowledge transfer refers to the exchange and the relationship between science and practice. This can be meant in practice both in the narrow sense, a cooperation between universities and industry companies, as well as in the broader sense any form of scientific communication.

Transfer of knowledge is understood in two ways: first to an older, more limited way, and second to a newer, more comprehensive way.
