Knoxville Speed

The Knoxville speed were an American ice hockey team from Knoxville, Tennessee. The team played from 1999 to 2002 in the United Hockey League.

History

The franchise of the Madison Monsters of the United Hockey League was founded in 1999 from Madison, Wisconsin, to Knoxville, Tennessee, relocated and renamed Knoxville speed. The largest part of the Knoxville Speed ​​in the three years of its existence was to reach the second round of the playoffs to the Colonial Cup in the 2000 /01 season. After the third place in the Southeast Division of the team in the playoffs defeated first the Elmira Jackals before they failed in round two at the eventual finalists Asheville Smoke with a sweep in the best- of-five series. In the years 2000 and 2002, the Americans missed the playoffs in each case.

Following the 2001/ 02 season, the franchise was dissolved.
