Knut Kiesewetter

Knut Kiesewetter (* September 13, 1941 in Szczecin ) is a German jazz singer, songwriter, trombonist, guitarist, producer and writer.

Life

At the age of three years Kiesewetter moved to Garding on the North Frisian peninsula eiderstedt. As a 14 -year-old Kiesewetter trombone began to play and sing jazz. He was inspired by Jack Teagarden. While studying music, he took a 19 -year-old on his first singles, of which two singles with the group The Tramps, On Missouri ( October 1961 D # 24) and only a small tear from you (July 1962 D # 38 ), were able to place in the German charts. He had first various artist name until he was successful enough to be able to occur under his real name. In the 1960s and 1970s he was eleven -time winner of the German jazz polls, Division singer. He also won in that time, three times the European Jazz Poll of the French magazine Jazz Blue Note. In his music he mixed styles such as blues, jazz, rock, soul, gospel, chanson and folk. He also sang the hymn Want to give me your heart by Johann Sebastian Bach on record. Its spectrum in Jazz Oldtime ranged from jazz to bebop. He played together with Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Joe Zawinul. He often performed with his siblings Sigrun and Hartmut Kiesewetter.

In the late 1960s Kiesewetter started to produce records. He discovered, among others, Hannes Wader, Volker Lechtenbrink and Fiede Kay and became their producer. In 1971 he moved to the Fresenhof in Bohmstedtfeld near Husum. As a result, Kiesewetter became known for its high German, low German and to some extent North Frisian sung, often politically inspired songs. In all, he published 50 albums, of which Leeder vun mien Fresenhof received a gold record.

Politically, Kiesewetter committed in the late 1970s in the first environmental Wählergemeinschaft Germany, the Green List northern Friesland. At the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts Knut Kiesewetter taught in the 1980s songs composition and song lyrics.

In 2000, Kiesewetter was beaten by Wolfgang Ernst Fürst Ysenburg and Büdingen for his services to the German Jazz Knight of the Ronneburg.
