Knut Knudsen

Knut Knudsen ( born October 12, 1950 in Levanger ) is a former Norwegian cyclists.

As an amateur, he was first in track cycling active. He won the gold medal in the individual pursuit at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Later, two silver and one bronze medal were added at web - Cycling World Championships. From 1974 to 1981 Knudsen professional in Italy and has a total of 49 victories to celebrate in road racing. His most significant success is the overall victory in the Tour of Tirreno- Adriatico 1979. In the Giro d'Italia, he won six stages and wore during four days the Maglia Rosa leader's overall.

1972 and 1973 he won the election to Norway's sportsman of the year 1972 also the Morgenbladet gold medal and the Fearnleys olympiske ærespris.

1975 Knudsen received after a positive doping control a ten-minute time penalty during a tour in Belgium.
