Knutsford

Knutsford is a town in the county of Cheshire in northwest England. It counts 19,607 inhabitants (2001) and is part of the unitary authority of Cheshire East.

Knutsford is the hometown of Henry Royce, the inventor of the car brand Rolls- Royce. ( Therefore also called Shadow Finance Minister ) Member of Parliament (MP) for Knutsford is currently George Osborne, the Conservative spokesman for finance.

Events

Knutsford Royal May Day Festival: Grand Parade, which takes place on the first Saturday in May and in which the whole city is under siege. The highlight is the crowning of the May Queen. In Tatton Park there is also a horticultural exhibition, as well as a show with American cars.

Knutsford has several sports teams, among others, for rugby, football, cricket, hockey, tennis and squash.
