Knýtlinga saga

The Knýtlinga saga (originally aevi Danakonunga or Sögur Danakonunga what life / Sage of the Danish kings means ) the legend is about King Canute the Great and his descendants. It was written around 1260 in Iceland and acts of the Danish rulers of Harald I of Denmark (9th century) to 1187th It is one of the sources mentioned, among others, the battle of Assandun.

It connects the Heimskringla in (world circuit), the medieval work of Snorri Sturluson about the Norwegian kings. As Snorri uses the author often the skaldic poetry as a documentary source. There are reasons to assume that the author Óláfr Þórðarson († 1259 ) was the nephew of Snorri. Óláfr remained with the Danish ruler of Valdemar II of Denmark (1240-1241) and Waldemar knew the author of the saga for it with lots of information and excellent reports.
