Ko Chan District

Koh Chan ( Thai: อำเภอ เกาะ จันทร์ ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the province of Chonburi. The Chonburi province is located in the eastern region of central Thailand.

Geography

The neighboring Amphoe are from clockwise from the North: Amphoe Plaeng Yao, Sanam Chai Khet and Tha Takiap the province of Chachoengsao and Amphoe Bo Thong and Phanat Nikhom Chonburi province.

History

Ko Chan was on 1 July 1997 initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by the eastern part was separated from Amphoe Phanat Nikhom.

On 15 May 2007, the Thai government had decided that all 81 King Amphoe to rise in the simple Amphoe status to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette " Issue 124 chapter 46" of 24 August 2007, this decision officially entered into force.

Management

Ko Chan is divided into two subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 27 villages ( Muban ).

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Ko Chan ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เกาะ จันทร์ ) consists of parts of tambon same name,
  • Tha Bunmi ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า บุญ มี ) consists of parts of tambon same name.

There are also two " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
