Ko Ngai ( Thai: เกาะ ไห ง; alternative name Ko Hai ) is an island in the southern region of Thailand in the Andaman Sea.

Geography

Ko Ngai is located in the south of Krabi province in the district ( Amphoe ) Ko Lanta, but geographically closer to the coast of Trang province. It is located just west of Hat Chao Mai National Park, whose headquarters on the same beach is located on the opposite mainland of Trang. The island is 4 km long, about 5 square kilometers in the south wider and pointed to the north as a wedge.

Demography

On the island there are virtually no inhabitants living permanently. Only about a dozen Thais go all year by the fishing and take care of smaller agricultural projects. Most residents are employees of the holiday resort, operate the hotel facilities are also in the southern Thai -season.

Climate

It has a subtropical climate. The rainy season ( monsoon ) begins around the beginning of May and ends in late October early November of each year. In the period from early November to late April prevail mostly sunshine and the Andaman Sea is calm. The temperatures are in the monsoon season from 25 to 30 degrees during the day and at night at 22 to 24 degrees. In the peak season, daytime temperatures reach values ​​of 25 to 34 degrees.

The closest

The nearest mainland port is Pak Meng, about 15 km northeast of Ko Ngai in the district ( Amphoe ) Sikao Trang province. From the little pier Trang province pervert the typical Thai longtail boats. Some of the hotel facilities have their own (fast ) boats for the transfer of the hotel guests. The crossing from Pak Meng Pier takes depending on the boat type 30 to 40 minutes.

Attractions

Ko Ngai is primarily a swimming and diving island. Especially nice is the approximately 2 km long beach in the east of the island. It offers clear, turquoise water. Few corals disrupt the joys of swimming. Also in the south of the island there are 2 coves. The west coast is due to falling, verdant rock not to swim.
