Kobayashi Shōrin-ryū

As Kobayashi - ryu (Japanese小林 流) is referred to in karate founded by Chibana Choshin flow within the Shorin- ryū.

Name

The name Kobayashi (小林) originated from an alternative spelling and / or reading for Shorin (Ch. / Jap .少林/少林, or also jap小林), which is the Japanese pronunciation of Shaolin. Both mean both in Chinese and in Japanese literally means " small forest ", but is often used at the original Shorin, Chinese spelling for the first character, the "small" means (少), while Kobayashi on the very similar, in Japan more common characters with the same meaning (小), and thus the usual Japanese term and reading for a " grove " recourse.

History

Chibana Choshin transmitted the teachings of his master Itosu Anko. His students Miyahira Katsuya ( Shidokan ) Yuchoku Higa ( Kyudokan ) and Shuguro Nagazato ( Shōrinkan ) led the style after the death of Chibana in 1969 continued in their own schools.
